Mobile phones, late arrivals and chatty neighbours are usually blamed for ruining a trip to the pictures. But new research by Pot Noodle suggests the real villain of the big screen may be something far more ordinary: the sound of other people eating.

A whopping 91% of Brits say they’re irritated by fellow cinemagoers’ eating noises, with slurping now emerging as one of the nation’s most infuriating film-time offences.

In a bid to keep their theatres slurp-free zones, Genesis Cinema, London, has had to make the decision to ban Pot Noodle from its premises.
